viewSQL
Privacy Policy
This policy explains how viewSQL processes information when you use the platform and, in particular, how the optional Google Drive integration works.
1. Scope
This policy applies to the viewSQL service available at viewsql.com and its integrated applications. If an organisation uses viewSQL under a specific agreement, that agreement may establish additional conditions for data processing, retention or location.
2. Information viewSQL may process
Depending on the features you use, viewSQL may process account information, settings, work resources, technical logs and data you choose to open, analyse, persist, synchronise or share.
viewSQL is designed to allow local processing in the browser at different stages of the workflow. Subsequent persistence or synchronisation depends on the actions and settings the user or organisation chooses within the product.
3. Google Drive
drive.file scope. viewSQL does not request permission to browse or freely read your entire Google Drive.When you connect Google Drive, viewSQL may access these categories of Google data:
- the email address of the authorised Google account, to display which account is connected;
- OAuth tokens needed to maintain authorisation;
- metadata of the file you select in Google Picker, such as its identifier, name and type;
- the content of the file you expressly select to import into Workbench.
Google Sheets is exported as an Excel .xlsx file before entering viewSQL’s normal import workflow.
How we use this data
- to authenticate the connection to your Google account;
- to open Google Picker so you can choose a file;
- to download or export only the authorised file and pass it to Workbench;
- to renew authorisation when you have expressly chosen to remember the connection.
Selecting a file from Drive does not by itself create an additional persistent copy on the viewSQL server. Subsequent persistence, synchronisation or sharing depends on the actions you perform with that resource within viewSQL.
Remembering the connection
If you do not select Remember my connection, authorisation is kept temporarily for the session. If you choose to remember it, the OAuth grant is stored encrypted and signed in a private pointer associated with your user, allowing reconnection and renewal without requesting authorisation on every use.
Revoking access
You can use Disconnect in viewSQL to remove the stored authorisation and request revocation of the grant at Google. You can also revoke access from your Google Account security settings.
Google API Services User Data Policy
viewSQL’s use and transfer to any other application of information received from Google APIs will comply with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
4. Security
viewSQL applies technical controls intended to protect credentials and resources, including HTTPS transport, user/client separation, encrypted storage of remembered grants and pointer integrity controls. Platform OAuth secrets are not delivered to the end user’s browser.
5. Retention
Temporary authorisations are limited to the session. Remembered authorisations remain until the user disconnects them, they are revoked, they expire without renewal or they are no longer needed to provide the requested feature. Retention of imported files or results depends on persistence, synchronisation or deletion actions within viewSQL and the rules applicable to the account or organisation.
6. Sharing and third parties
viewSQL does not grant other users access to a Google Drive file merely because it has been imported. Any subsequent sharing within viewSQL requires a corresponding action or access rule. Google remains responsible for Google Drive, Google Picker and its own data processing under its terms and policies.
7. Changes to this policy
We will update this policy when the way viewSQL accesses or uses data changes materially. The effective date at the beginning identifies the applicable version.
8. Privacy enquiries
For questions about privacy or a Google Drive authorisation, use the support or contact channel associated with your viewSQL account. If you use viewSQL through an organisation, you may also contact the administrator responsible for that account.
